Health Mentor Service

We are here to support school aged children and young people and their families.

Our aim is to help you make healthy choices and manage life’s challenges. We offer one-to-one support and small group sessions for peer learning, focusing on brief interventions that promote positive behaviour change.

What We Can Help With

  • School readiness and transition to primary school
  • Transition to secondary school and college
  • Anger management
  • Bereavement support
  • Emotional impact of bullying
  • Emotional health and wellbeing
  • Weight management and healthy eating
  • Vaping and smoking
  • Alcohol and drugs
  • Hygiene (handwashing, bathing, showering, toothbrushing)
  • Menstrual hygiene
  • Signposting to sexual health services

How We Work

  • One-to-one appointments over 4–6 weeks using an agreed individual health plan
  • Small group support for peer learning
  • We work closely with School Health, Family Hubs, Schools, and other agencies
  • Confidential service – unless there is a safeguarding concern. If information needs to be shared, you will be informed who it will be shared with and why.
