The website has been developed during a period from August 2020 to July 2021 by the Trust’s Communications Team working with their appointed digital partner Frank Design, a digital agency specialising in the development of websites for the NHS. We have tried to make sure that this website is available to as broad an audience as possible.
This statement was prepared on 15 July 2021 and reflects the status of the site following accessibility tests carried out by Frank Design throughout the preceding design and development process.
Located at the bottom of every page is our accessibility toolbar, labelled 'Show accessibility tools' which toggles to ‘Hide accessibility tools’ to stop it from being visible.
Click on the toolbar to view various accessible options, including:
- Text size
- Contrast
- Google translate (we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the translation).
Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Overall, the site complies with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
Images on our website have alternative text attributes (alt text). This means when an image is used on a webpage to convey information its content is also described in the alt text. Therefore, the image can be understood by text browsers and assistive technologies such as screen readers.
If an image is used for simply decorative purposes, the text attribute for the image is left empty in line with accepted best practice.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Going forward the Trust intends to review the feasibility and business case for the provision of compliant PDFs in future for essential information or to provide it by other accessible means.
Live video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website.
